INTERPOL Defense

INTERPOL cases are as important as they are sensitive. Depending on the category, Interpol can be interested in a person due to a serious crime, for being an important witness, being reported as missing, and for miscellaneous special offenses. Countries cooperate with Interpol by means of circulated notices of different types. People on the Interpol list and with notices of different color in their name will have trouble at every international checkpoint, port or airport, any border control. Not all notices are error-free, and interpol lawyers are here to help you sort it out. We help those who are looking to remove their name from Interpol list, those whose rights have been violated by any kind of notice and those whose notices were issued in error. Our interpol lawyer also assists with immigration-related issues that can derive from Interpol cases and works with immigration attorneys and courts.

INTERPOL notices

Interpol Red Notice: persons wanted for a criminal offense with the purpose of prosecution or sentence. Interpol Red notices are circulated internationally by the interested country to all Interpol member countries who will detain and report such a person on sight to be handed over to the interested country, e.g., at the border  control, passport control, even traffic patrol. Crimes subject to an Interpol Red alert are different in scope and gravity, some red notices are issued for political, economic or reasons contradicting good faith, and it is possible to remove them – yet, before detention! There are various grounds for removal of Red Notices, and professional red notice removal lawyers can help you do that.

Interpol Green Notice: warnings about a person's criminal activities and a potential threat to public safety. Interpol Green notices can be based on wrong prior convictions and can be removed if a case is professionally presented by a professional Interpol attorney.

Interpol Yellow Notice: missing persons, kidnapped or unable to identify themselves. Such people will be detained and reported as usual but such notices can be issued in error, because of custodial disagreements between parents and many other reasons. An Interpol solicitor can help establish the true status of the reported person and advocate for removal of the Interpol Yellow Notice.

Interpol Blue Notice: persons wanted as witnesses who are supposed to possess information about a crime or a suspect. They are issued to all Interpol member states to track and contact a person during investigation. By their nature they cause less trouble but can be a source of substantial inconvenience and surveillance. An Interpol lawyer can help you address such situation and find the best solution with the interested government.

Interpol Purple Notice: persons wanted as criminals and fugitives by international law enforcement agencies. Unlike Interpol Red Notices, in the case of Purple ones there is no sufficient evidence of the person's guilt and involvement in certain criminal activity. Such notices are used as an alert during the exchange of information between international law enforcement bodies.

Interpol Black Notice: issued worldwide to collect information about unidentified bodies. Usually, Black Notices are issued for police only but in some cases Interpol may share photos and face reconstruction so that anyone possessing information about their identity may communicate it.

Interpol Orange Notice: indicate the highest level of alert in presence of a threat to public safety and national security. Issued to law enforcement agencies and information on them is not publicly available.

UN Special Notice: persons wanted on international level at the request of the UN Security Council to ensure exchange of information about the person's location and are basis for arrest and extradition.

Interpol Diffusions: persons wanted for a criminal offense with the purpose of prosecution or sentence – just like a Red Notice, but their effect is limited to between two certain countries or to a few Interpol countries, not all of them. Diffusions issuing procedure is simpler compared to Red Notices, they require less bureaucracy. Like Interpol Red Notices, Diffusions can be issued for political, economic or reasons contradicting good faith, and it is possible to remove them before detention, and a professional Interpol attorney can help you do that.

Interpol Preemptive request: persons who do not have any notices upon them but have reasonable grounds to suspect that one may be issued soon, can submit a preventive request to Interpol. It is important to build a case as early as possible and this can only be done with professional Interpol solicitors.

Interpol Personal Data Correction: governmental databases can contain errors and it may be in a client’s best interest to notify Interpol about such error and correct it. An Interpol lawyer can present your case before domestic and international institutions to ensure successful correction of your personal data on all levels.

Interpol Immigration advice: given the international nature of many Interpol related matters, a client can often need advice with regards to the applicable immigration law. We work with immigration attorneys and represent clients in immigration courts, helping clarify both the immigration side and Interpol side of the case to each party.
